The Student Support Services (SSS) general advising model is developmentally specific, as the staff recognizes that students in different class years have different needs and different responsibilities. Advising is directly linked to the myriad of services provided by the program. By providing ongoing, proactive, and intrusive academic support and referrals to essential university departments, professional staff can reinforce good academic behaviors, encourage students’ progress, and monitor their academic success. The Rutgers-NB SSS program is designed to retain students by providing holistic services, targeting academic preparedness, personal wellness, financial literacy, and career readiness.
